Ghill-Grudges-Rancour are Sickness for the soul

Holding Grudges is a Sickness for he soul it stops all spiritual progress
"Holding a grudge against someone is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die" -Buddha.
Its called Ghill in arabic and it stops the blessings of ibadah and stops all spiritual progress until you don't let go of ALL grudges you will never travel the path to Allah. Nor will you benefit from the secrets of dhikr or Fath-Spiritual Openings, for how can you receive Spiritual Opening when your heart is full of grudges and hatred. Ghill or grudges is a form hatred towards someone that takes root slowly in your heart were as Ghadab-Anger is a quick release of severe hatred. And Ghadab-Anger is said to be actual poison for the heart and your Iman-faith.

Ghill as mentioned in Quran:
rabbana ighfir lana wali-ikhwanina allatheena sabaqoona bial-eemani wala tajAAal fee quloobina (ghillan) lillatheena amanoo rabbana innaka raoofun raheemun 59:10

'Our Lord! forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in the faith, and place not in our hearts any Rancour/Grudge toward those who had believed. Our Lord! verily Thou art Tender, Merciful.'

Grudge /Rancour -Ghill
Definitions of rancour:
malicious resentfulness or hostility; spite
a feeling of deep and bitter anger and ill-will
a feeling of sulky resentment
a resentment strong enough to justify retaliation; "holding a grudge"; "settling a score"
The deepest malignity or spite; deep-seated enmity or malice;
resentment: a feeling of deep and bitter anger and ill-willRancor is that degree of malice which preys upon the possessor

I say for the sake of Allah forgive others and allow grudges to leave your heart otherwise you will be like a car stuck in a pit, moving but going nowhere. This course is about you finding Salam –peace with your heart and until you learn to release all that you attached to in ways of grudges you will never move, regardless if you are in the right and they are wrong. For that is the whole point you are here to learn to forgive all especially the ones that have pained you with words of insults or anything else for that matter and move on.

If anyone has any emotional issue and cannot move on, I will do sessions of Energy healing therapy and help then to release those problems so please email if you find it hard to move on from any grudge you are holding against someone that has wronged you.
What Stops Our Dua's and Mercy its Grudge/Rancour or Ghill

There are Four exception who will not be forgiven in the month of Ramadhan

There are many that fast by the day and get nothing but hunger and thirst and by the night spend it in qiyam layla – [ night vigil ]pray and get nothing but insomnia. Why? Looking with desire, backbite, lying breaks the fast.

Meaning- Reluctant to abandon a grudge and stubbornly unwilling to accept the restoration of good relations with anyone who has offended him.
2. Disobedient and disrespectful /Mistreating ones parents,

4. Drinking Alcohol

Excerpts from Al-Ghunya li-Talibi Tariq al-Haqq Vol.3 by Shaykh ‘Abdul Qadir Jilani

Seeking Allah’s Gaze, One of the qualities that would prevent us from this blessed gaze (and from many other opportunities for forgiveness) is Ghill- malice, grudges – Malice –Rancour . The Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, taught us of the (Night of Power) and the (Half Night of Sha’ban-15th-) that those who harbor rancor, mistreat parents, severe bonds of kinship or drink are prevented from Allah’s merciful gaze.

The above a prevented from Allah’s merciful gaze, they stop our Dua's or make them limited.

Do we want Allah to look to His servants on the first night of Ramadan and overlook us because we are bearing ill will against each other?

Is whatever anyone has done to hurt us so important that we can not overlook it in exchange for an opportunity for eternal salvation from Allah’s punishment? What about all of those whom we have wronged? Do we not need Allah’s pardon as well as theirs?

Prohibition of Nursing Grudge/Rancour

The gates of Paradise are not opened but on two days, Monday and Thursday, and then every servant (of Allah) is granted pardon who does not associate anything with Allah except the person in whose (heart) there is rancour against his brother. And it would be said: Look towards both of them until there is reconciliation; look toward both of them until there is reconciliation; look towards both of them until there is reconciliation.

This hadith has also been narrated on the authority of Suhail who narrated it on the authority of his father with the chain of transmitters of Malik, but with this variation of wording: “(Those would not be granted pardon) who boycott each other.”(Sahih Muslim)

This hadith underlines the prohibition of nursing rancour against one’s brother. Nursing rancour breaks family and social relationship. It affects the very foundations on which a family or society is expected to run harmoniously. It is such a great sin that due to this Allah the Exalted would not grant His pardon to one who commits this sin. Thus such a person will stand as a great loser. However Allah is Most Forgiving; He can pardon a sinner if he mends his ways and seeks his forgiveness.

This hadith also brings into light the importance of two particular days in a week – Monday and Thursday. It is on these two days when Allah the Exalted keeps the gate of the Paradise open and forgives His servants who do not associate someone with Him in His powers and attributes except those who indulge in nursing rancour against each other or, in the words of another hadith, boycott each other.

Instead of nursing rancour against someone, the believers should love their fellow brothers just with the intention of winning the pleasure of Allah.Ibn 'Umar said, "There is nothing that is swallowed greater with Allah in reward than a slave of Allah who swallows and contains his rancour out of desire for the pleasure of Allah." From Al-Adab al-Mufrad Al-Bukhari by Imam Bukhari

The Prophet said: "The hearts of those who enter Paradise would be like those of the hearts of birds." (The commentator says that the hearts of birds are free from jealousy or rancour. He has not seen our seagulls arguing amongst each other, picking on each other and vying for food from picnickers.) After their hearts are cleansed from all “ Ghill” they will enter Jannah. In dunya the way they knew the way to their home, thus will they be familiar of their home in jannah.

"Do not sever relation. Do not indulge in mutual enmity. Do not entertain rancour and jealousy against one another, and do not be jealous of others. Be brethren among yourselves and become Allah's slaves It is not permissible for a man to have severed his relations with any of his brethren for more than three days." (Bukhari)

Cures for Grudge/Rancour

Imam Malik's Muwatta Hadith -Chapter no: 47, Good Character: Yahya related to me from Malik from Ata ibn Abi Muslim that Abdullah al-Khurasani said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Shake hands and rancour will disappear. Give presents to each other and love each other and enmity will disappear.' "

Hadith of Gifts

'A'ishah reported, The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:
"Give gifts to one another, for gifts take away Grudge/rancour."

The Shade of Sadaqah: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his Sadaqah.” (Tirmidhi)  "The generous man is near Allah, near paradise, near men and far from hell, but the miserly man is far from Allah, far from paradise, far from men and near hell. Indeed, an ignorant man who is generous is dearer to Allah than a worshipper who is miserly."(Tirmidhi)
